Marlon Byrd broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single in the eighth, and Greg Golson provided plenty of insurance with a grand slam in the ninth as the Rangers pulled away from the Chicago Cubs. Derek Holland was the winning pitcher, allowing four hits over 2 1/3 innings. Casey Daigle got the final two outs after Holland had issued a walk and a single.
The Rangers improved to 7-4 in Cactus League action. They play the Dodgers on Monday in Surprise.
